Abstract
Traditional health care system is inherited through generations in different ages. It is thought that folk cures are harmful and dangerous but scientific researches proved that some of it are curative. It is noted that child health is affected by education of mothers who. have the main role in providing primary health care to the family. The study was conducted to identify mothers knowledge and practices of indigenous methods used in the management of their children having selected health problems as cough, burns, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, colic, measles, wounds, abscesses, conjunctivitis, and scorpion sting. There’re certain recommendations which are as follows 1 Nursing educators and nursing courses should pay attention to the socio-cultural concepts of health. 2 Nurses working in the field should be aware of cultural diversity and get special courses in this respect 3 Ministry of health should prepare certain programs for medical and paramedical personnel working in the rural communities and motivate them. 4 Health teaching should be given in mosques, at homes, health centers, and through means of information in order to direct
mothers towards good health habits.
