Abstract In this study our aim was to evaluate the vertical resection pattern in relatively larger breast. The average amount of breast removed was (798 gm. from right breast and 809 gm. from left breast) in vertical cases. .In addition to that, a series of comparable size reductions, with an average reduction of (863 gm. from right breast and 884 gm. from left breast) was performed using an inverted T resection pattern to compare the outcome of the two methods. Results were comparable in both groups as regards the aesthetic outcome and the size, shape and complication rates, but it was found that symmetry is more easily corrected with the vertical technique. Areolar scar widening is evident in larger vertical reductions due to the purse string effect. |
