Abstract

Bamag Block Module is a new design for the compact units for potable water treatment following the conventional theory for water treatment, introduced by BAMAG GmbH. As being applied through NOPWASD in many of the Egyptians suburban communities (in order to solve the problem of lack of potable water supply to such faraway villages),this research aims to study and evaluate whether it fits with the Egyptian land conditions, water characteristics and required potable water specifications or not. The evaluation was studied in Menouf WTP in Menoufia governorate, where a Bamag Block Module is used for surface water treatment. The source of the water is Naaniaa irrigation canal.
Experimental works were carried out to for 1 year to find out the reliability and suitability of the Block Module practically to its cases of application in the Egyptian borders and compare it practically to other applied compact unit theories (e.g. Direct Filtration). The Laboratory of Shebeen El.Koum WTP was used for these analyses. Analytical works were carried out to evaluate the Block Module financially to the actual economic conditions in Egypt, as well as analyzing the measured parameters and figure to come out with the final evaluation, conclusion and recommendations.
