Abstract
The present thesis includes spectrophotometric and analytical studies on some fluorescein derivatives. The research project has been related first to the medium effect on the spectral behavior of fluorescein itself in different organic solvent-water mixtures at different pH. The ionization constants of the compound are determined in the different media. The effect of the organic co-solvent on the pKa value is discussed. The study reveals that the most important factor affect the results is the difference in the stabilization of the base by donor hydrogen born from solvent molecules.
