Abstract

The present investigation was planned to investigate the following:
The median lethal dose (LC50), acute and chronic effects of carbofuran and iphos from the pathological and clinicopathological points of view, with rds to immune status of both Oreochromis niloticus fish and its alternate
nonosex tilapia, through determination of some parameters such as: blood Lrameters (red and white blood cell counts, haemogiobin concentration, blood
rices and differential leucocytic count), enzyme parameters (ALT, AST, LP and ACHase), serum constituents (total protein, albumin, globulin, total
, creatinine and urea), phagocytic assay (phagocytic activity and thagocytic index), and finally histopathological changes in both treatments.
The results achieved are summarized in the following points:
The median lethal concentration (LC50) assessment of carbofuran and
in Oreochromis niloticus were (0.4 mg/i) and (1 mg/l) respectively.
In acute experiment when both Oreochromis niloticus and monosex tilapia exposed to half dose of LC50 (0.2 mg/i) of carbofuran for 7 days, nervous and respiratory manifestation as well as darkening of the skin with congestion of all visceral organs were observed.
A significant increase of AST, ALT and ALP was recorded. Fluctuated significant increase in total protein and globulins with hypoaibuminaemia was recognized in monosex.
