Abstract The major findings of this study are as follows: 1. Ninety-two isolates of motile mesophilic aeromomads (75 isolates of A.hyDROPhii, 8 isolates of Z.sobri&, 6 isolates of A.cavj& and one isolate of P.veronii, one isolate of .jandaei and one isolate of A.schubertii like strain) were isolated from naturally infected catfish, ilapia, muHet, carp, bayad and Gobi fish. 2. Both Aeromona basal medium and RS medium were able to be selective media for the isolation of Aerom.QL spp. but were unable to differentiate between the different species of AeromOnaS. 3. The biochemical characterizations of each Aeromonas species agreed with the aerokey of Carnahan and Joseph 1990, except seven isolates of A.drqpi1i1 which were susceptible to cephalothin and/or positive for ornithine decarboxylaSe. Two isolates of A.yDROPhii did not ferment sucrose and another two did not ferment arabinose. 4. Regarding antibiotic susceptibility, all 92 isolates were resistant to ampicillin (10 mg). A.veroii and almost all. |
