Abstract The impact of reliability and planning in power systems has become a very important concept with the growth of energy needs. We can say that to produce a highly reliable system and to perform a reliable transmission expansion planning we will face in both problems a large-scale combinatorial problem. In this work the nonlinear optimization of the reliability problem has been formulated, also a development of genetic algorithm and its applications to a least cost and reliable transmission expansion planning has been presented. The proposed algorithms depends upon using the simple genetic algorithm (SGA) which is a derivative-free stochastic optimization method based loosely on the concepts of natural selection and evolutionary processes. |
