Abstract Scars are the end result of the process of wound healing, where many hormonal and cellular mechanisms act in synchrony. These interactions will determine the specific color, size, and texture of the scar. Scars may be formed for many different reasons, including infections, surgery, or tissue inflammation, autoimmune phenomena, hormonal factors, anatomic location, foreign body reaction, endocrine factors and genetic predisposition. However some individuals report spontaneous keloid formation. |
