The Gravity quay wall is the most common type of wall used for harbor berths. The trend of ocean going deep draft vessels has made it difficult to satisfy equilibrium conditions for quite deep quay walls. Thus, factors affecting the stability of that type of berth should be looked at and investigated. There are a lot of factors affecting the performance of these quay walls. Among those factors; depth of quay wall, filling material properties, bearing stratum characteristics, gross ship weight and pulling tension force, and shape and arrangement of plain concrete blocks. This research focuses on the analysis of this type of retaining wall to illustrate the importance of each factor. It also introduces a simplified method for dynamic analysis. A computer program (QWD) has been implemented (using visual basic.net and .net framework technology) and developed for analysis and design of the gravity quay wall under static and seismic loads. Charts are offered to relate the effect of each factor on the final design. To make it possible for design engineers to come into a possible, economic and safe design, a complete set of design charts covering a wide range of parameters are presented
