Abstract

Fibrous reinforced concrete is one of the nost promising new construction materials. Fire remains one of the serious potential risks to most buildings and strutures and fire safety engineering is a very important aspect of designing strutures.
In this work, the behavior of fibrous reinforced concrete beams with discrete steel or polypropylene fibres were investigated after exposure to fire.
Various fiber volume fractions were used. An experimental program was executed to investigate the behavior of twelve RC beams subjected to concentrated loads.
These beams were classified into four groups. Each group contained three beams. The tested consists not six beams with different polyprolene fiber volume fractions; six beams with different steel fiber volume fractions; three tested before exposure to fire and three tested after exposure to fire. The failure load, first cracking load, deflection, and strain values at different loading stages as well as the crack propagation patterns for the tested beams were recorded.
Main conclusions are summarized and some recommendations for practical applications and suggestions for future research works in the field of fibrous reinforced concrete were introduced.
