Abstract

1-In the first chapter, a literature survey of the previous studies on norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and their complexes with different metal ions is given. This survey includes spectrophotometric, potentiometric, conductometric studies on norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin and their metal complexes.
2-The experimental part (chapter II ) includes the preparation of different concentration of the drugs under investigation. It comprises also information about the instruments used for spectrophotometric, potentiometric, conductometric and ir, UV and IH-nmr analysis.
3-Chapter III includes the results and discussion and consists of two parts, the first part (A), includes the studies in the solution of complexes formed between the drugs under investigation with the reagents V03-, Mo04-2 and W04-2.
The studies include conductometric, potentiometric, spectrophotometric techinques. from conductometric measurments the stoichiometry of the different complexes is obtained. Potentiometric titrations of the drugs and the reagent V03-, Moat-2 and W04-2 are preformed in a medium of HC1 and KC1. The proton- ligand stability constants log (KH) are detemined as well as the formation constants of the complexes (log Km).
The stoichiometry and stability constants of metal complexes are also evaluated from specrophotometric methods namely the molar ratio and continuous variation methods. The optimum conditions for the complex formation are EniqZ
summary
investigated , universal buffer was found to be the best medium for spectrophotometric studies.
Optimum pH values, sutitable wavelength, effect of time and temperature as well as the sequence of addition were also stuied, The results obtained indicate that a satisfactory agreement is observed between stability constant values evaluated
using the two different methods.
The determination of the drugs under invstigation was done by using beer’s method. For more accurate determination, Ringbom method was used. God results are obtained by calculating sandell senstivity, molar absorptivity, error% and the
standard deviaton.
The study of the accuracy of the proposed method was done by using F-test and T-test method. The proposed method shows high accuracy compared with the
official method.
4- Part (B) of chapter (III) includes studies of the solid complexes which include elemental analysis, molar conductivity measurements, ir, 1H-nmr and electronic absorption spectra .The molar conductance of the complexes in DMF shows that these complexes are electrolytes in nature. The chemical formule of the solid complexes were determined using the data obtained from the elemental analysis.
The ir-spectra of the metal complexes were studied and compared with those of the free drugs which indicated that the coordinate bonds occur through C=0 of
the rang and C=0 of the COOH group.
summary
The 1H-nmr spectra of the solid complexes were studied in DMSO and compared with those of the free drugs. It is found that the signals of protons of the OH group were presente without any change indicating that the OH don’t
contribute through the complex formation.
The magnetic suscepibilities of the solid complexes are measured using the Gouy method, from which the magnetic moments (meth are determined. The results show that all complexes are dimagnetic.
