Abstract

Intelligent control has become an issue of primary importance in modem control systems. One of the most important goals of intelligent automatic control systems is to increase the reliability, availability, and safety of those systems. In many cases, the problem of control systems is to build system models which are not available in each case. Fuzzy logic technologies enable the efficient and transparent implementation of human control expertise. The fuzzy logic system gives the set values for these controllers based on the process control expertise put in the fuzzy logic rules. In this work, a new damping approach for the single-axis inertial navigation system is presented. This damping approach is based on applying fuzzy techniques to replace a linear network, previously proposed for the damping procedure, the parameters of this network were chosen through optimizing the response of the inertial system to a step-function disturbing error signal. A comparison between the results for the gravity-induced error using the classical model previously employed for damping, and that using the fuzzy-based model. will be presented.
