Abstract

The present work aimed to study the different morphological abnonnalities in both testicular and epididymal spermatozoa and to throw light on the incidence of each type of such abnonnalities in the testis and different parts of the epididymis. In addition, biometry of sperms were assessed in both testes and epididymis (caput, corpus and cauda) in camels, as well as the determination of testosterone levels in camel blood plasma through the different seasons of the year.
The study was carried out on 134 testes and epididymis of dromedary camels over 5 years of age resembling the four seasons of the year (autumn 36 testes, winter 36 testes, spring 25 testes and summer 37 testes). Sperm cell samples were collected from testes and epididymis (caput, corpus and cauda) of all camels. Two types of stains (Alkaline methyl violet and EosinNigrosin) were used after dilution of both of testicular and epididymal seminal content with 2.9% sodium citrate dihydrate to detect sperm morphology. RJA technique was used for measuring testosterone concentration allover the seasons of the year.
Biometry of spermatozoa were detected by ising eye piece micrometer.
