Abstract The present investigation was condstec of two parts. The first part was carried out to evaluate the Merino sheep arid to study the influence of some factors affecting several economic traits Data for the first part, were obtained from birth records of 642 borns during the years from 1965 to 1969, at farms belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation in the Northern Sector of the Tahreer Province, a newly reclaimed area situated about 46 Kilometers South—West of Alexandria The traits studied were birth weight, weaning weight, yearling weight, daily gain from birth to weaning and daily gain from weaning to yearling weight.
