Abstract

Acconiing:ly, the ambient, velocity distribution changes in the zone in time and space, Many resen.rchers have developed nn::thods 10 compute the retum flow velocity on , the basis of one--diqten.~ional conservation of mass, momentum, or energy. Some have I discussed methods of computing the retum-velocity distribution across the channel. 1 The objective of Ibis study is to get the effect of various parameters of the ship I (width, length, draft, and speed) and water depth on the return flow velocity and druwdown in a very narrow navigation chwmcl both experimentally and arudytica!Jy. A simple method is presented to predict the average rctum flow velocity and drawdown between the liliip and the sidewall with experimental vo:rification. ’fbe linear model of Mei [19761 is also applied to predict the water surface profile a.round the ship
