Abstract The combination of an aging of population and a heightened medical awareness concerning the quality of life issues has made vaginal vault prolapse an increasingly important condition. Vaginal vault prolapse can be applied to the following different conditions : 1- Prolapse of the vaginal vault (or inversion of the vagina) after hysterectomy. 2- Enterocele : Upper posterior vaginal wall prolapse associated with herniation of Douglas pouch and may contain loop of bowel. 3- Collapse of the supports around the upper vagina and uterus which allows these organs to slide through a relatively well supported lower birth canal, which is applied on second degree uterovaginal prolapse and procedentia. The true incidence of female genital prolapse is unknown. By age, most women have at least a mild degree of prolapse which are usually asymptomatic and don’t seek for evaluation or treatment. The present study is carried out to investigate the types of vault prolapse, most common causes and most common procedures of management. |
