Abstract

Leptosirosis is a common zoonotic disease affecting most mammals through out the world. The disease also affects reptiles,
birds, amphibians and arthropodes. In livestock the disease causes high economic loss due to abortion, stillbirth, decreased milk
production and infertility
The present study covers the isolation trials of leptospira from urine1 kidney and uterus of cows, buffales, sheep and rodents beside serological survey on cattle, buffaloes and sheep sera
collected from four governorates in Egypt namely; North Tahreer, Dakahlia, Kafr EL- Shiekh and Giza GoverftQreteS
where 18 leptospiral isolates were recovered from urine as follows : In cows :- 12 leptospiral isolates were recovered using millipore filters and 5—fluorouracil, such isolates were serotyped
as 10 serovar.s L.grippocyphosa and 2 serovar L.ballum.
Io buf±oe, Q’ie leptDsD1al isolate w&S recovered from
samples and on further identification it was belorging to PtQ5p.ra 0or-7pco3a
L.grippotypbosa is recorded her for the first time in cattle and buffaloes, also L.bailum is recorded her for the first time in
cattle
In albinoxnice :- 5 leptospiral isolates were recovered from urine samples and on further identification they were belonging to Leptospra ballurn serogroup
Concerning the serological survey, a total of 1900 serum samples collected from cattle, buffaloes and sheep were examined for detection of leptospiral agglutinins using the microscopic
