Abstract

of the economic importance of poultry breeding in found necessary to investigate their parasiti-fauna,
ce, frequency, and intensity of infection and the bioloof these helminths with special reference to their inter- hosts 8.J.’1d developmental stages.
,e study was carried out in Assiut Governorate in the middle
Uppar Egypt durir~ the period from December 1978 till 1980. The results of this work showed that the infection
chickens s pigeons, ducks and geese amounted to 91.35 %, 14.67 %, and 10.29 % respectively.· This wide range
’,ce in various host species was attributed to the feeding of chickens which usuo.lly feed not only on seeds but also refuse ot houses and terrestial arthropods. Besides, a
’e corl’elatiQn between the size of the host and the in-rate with heJ4ninths, could be withdrawn indicating that
pigenos are more vulnerable to infection than ducks
the seasonal prevalence of parasitism revealed that high in Summer’ in all paul try species being 99.20 %
% in pigeons, 32.32 % in ducks and 18.18 % in DROP was observed in Auturilll and Spring but rather
was noticed in Winter. These seasonal variations the obvious effect of climatic variations on the biology
