Abstract

Dimensional change of knitted fabrics, cspecialK due to repeated laundering, is a critical attribute and, hence, its accurate quantification is a major concern for knitting sectors of textile industry. Currently, the assessment of fabric dimensional change (specifically, shrinkage) in textile laboratories all over the world is governed by different test methods. In the review of literature some researches were collected on factors affecting shrinkage of weft knitted fabrics. Different methods for determination of the shrinkage of weft knitted fabric were also studied. In this work these different methods were applied on twelve samples with different specifications. Analysis fo every test method is also established. Software able to measure shrinkage in multi directions, area shrinkage, and spiralily was developed. This software is also able to store tests results, print it, and export these results to lixcel file for further analysis. Comparison among proposed software and different software that measure shrinkage automatically was also done in order to see what proposed software added
Proposed software presents application of Information Technology in-textile industry. It lakes test specimens images (as raw data) and produce shrinkage and spirality using image processing techniques (fabric dimension stability as produced information). Also storing section in proposed software present a database contains dimension stability information about all factory orders.
