Abstract

Fibrosis is the most severe consequence of the liver injury that occurs in most chronic liver diseases regardless of their aetiology. Recently hepatic fibrosis is now considered as a dynamic process involving synthesis and degradation of several proteins and macromolecules from the extracellular matrix.
Assessment of hepatic function and cell necrosis are well established by non invasive liver function teste. However, Hepatic fibrosis can be estimated by liver biopsy which provides only static in contrast to dynamic information about hepatic fibrotic process. The ideal test should hr non invasive and easy to be done repeatedly.
Estimation of plasma laminin concentration considered non invasive test to evaluate stage of hepatic fibrosis in chronic liver disease.
