Abstract This investigation represents a numerical study of laminar combined heat transfer from an infinite isothermal circular cylinder to different prandtl number fluids. The conservation equations governing the transfer of mass, momentum and energy were solved by patankar and splading technique (47). At the beining the effect of changing the size of the domain on the average nusselt number was showed for different prandtl number at the assisting flow. The domain size value changed during this study from 3 to 40. great variations in the average nusselt were found when changing the domain size. Then, the assisting flow mixed convection was studied. Different correlations depended on effective Reynolds number were obtained for each prandtl number. |
