Abstract
T
he aim beyond the current study was to demonstrate the different aspects of clinical and radiological presentations and to clarify any possible relations between these aspects and the disease etiology in 30 patients with confirmed BCS.
To fulfill such purpose, all patients were subjected to detailed history taking, clinical examination and laboratory investigations including: liver profile, kidney function tests, complete blood picture, thrombophilia work up (Anti phospholipid Abs (anticardiolipin IgG & IgM, lupus anticoagulant, B 2-glycoproteine I Abs), ANA, anti DNA, protein C, protein S, Anti thrombin III, Factor V Leiden mutation, prothrombin gene mutation and methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene mutation), CD55&CD59 for Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. Bone marrow examination and JAK2 mutation were considered, when needed, to exclude occult myeloproliferative disease. Upper GI endoscopy was performed to evaluate the status of varices and portal hypertensive gastropathy.
