Abstract

In Egypt there are about 3 million heads of sheep, with two breeds namly the barki (desert-evolved) and the rahmani (valley-evolveed) being the most numerous. Theses native sheep ara year-round breeders but the intensity of sexual activity varies with the season of the year. The highest incidence of sexual activity occurs during the autumn while the lowest occurs in the spring season (Matter,1987). Most previous studies on native breeds of sheep were focussed on examining the reproductive patterns during various seasons of the year.
