Abstract

The fungicidal power of eeven dieinfectants was
compared with that of Pure Phenol on different fungal
j)ecie ( Aiperil1us flnvuij, Aspergillus niger1 Can—
dida albicans, Candida guilliermondii, Candida krusei, Candida parapsilosis, Caridida pseudotropicalis, Candida stellatoidea, Caridida tropicalia, Rhodotorula rubra,
Torulopsis colliculosa, Torulopsis versitalis ).
‘Nie di ainifectants used were Commercial Phenol
(Phenique Abdin), Phenol Derivatives (Prophyl), lodo— F phors (Crown and lodocor), Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (Nascosept) and Slaked Lime (Milk of lime and Lime wash)
The effect of these disinfectants on different
experimentally contaminated surfaces with fungi was
performed.
Prophyl was found to be the most powerful disin— fectarit since its mean dilution for killing fungi suspended in saline was found to be 1:103, while for dis— iIifucll(hn o.t’ contaminated concrete was 1:45, 1:51 for
piu3t i c and 1: 54 for leather and wood.
