Abstract

Educators are emphasizing the importance of sending young children to pre-school Kindergartens . This is being done because research has shown that the pre-school years are crucial to child development . Children learn best through activity doing and manipulating; children are learning all the times in all places. Such kindergartens help in preparing children for primary education and for life in general. The child will spend almost all of his time in the indoor play spaces in the kindergarten; playing, working with other children, and practicing different activities. For these reasons the need and the importance have come to discover and treat the shortages in the indoors play spaces in the Egyptian kindergartens and try to overcaome the obstacles that face them as possible in the simplest and easiest way. It is found that there are common problems that face the kindergartens in Egypt and in the developed countries.
To obtain the aim of the research “To what extent does the kindergarten building respond to the child needs?”, this research concentrates on the study of the architectural analysis of the building itself and studying assuming the stability of other parameters (supervision and the educational program) in all schools of the chosen sample .
The research has used a big amount of the data base information, so it would be important to use the information technology to be able to extract sufficient and various reports and analysis from the gained data accurately without duplication of the data and in a short time . The sample analysis has discovered major and popular repeated shortages that were found in many of the schools sample, it also discovered direct relation ship between the shortage of other architectural parameters and activities to a greet extent . The sample also has discovered that there are some shortages that could be treated by replacing wrong elements, ( materials or furniture ) by the suitable ones; and this may cause a decrease in the total budget of the periodical maintenance and could be used in making new extension. On the other hand the study showed some shortage points that could be overcome by increasing the supervision, like lake of safety and using hard corners furniture; while there were some lake points that will affect negatively in practicing the activities and may eliminate it like the shortage of the area in some activities’ spaces, covering walls with a material that could not be swept after drawing on with ease, arranging furniture in a pattern that does not encourage the individual and drawing, construction activities playing .
