Abstract
This work aimed to study the mean platelet volume (MPV) and its relationship to micro- and macro-vascular complications. The mean platelet volume was significantly larger in diabetics than controls. Also, there was significant difference in MPV between diabetic patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy and other diabetics. There was no correlation between MPV and FBG, HbAlc, duration of diabetes, patient’s age, or platelet count but there was a positive correlation between FBG and HbAlc in cases only.
