Abstract

One of the most important problems of liver transplantation is he source of hepatic grafts. Therefore, obtaining of a graft from donor and its preparation and implantation in a recipient was a olution. This study aimed to resect a hepatic lobe from a dog and tudying its effect on the general health condition. This lobe was aken and prepared to be used as an auxiliary graft in another dog.
This study was carried out on (49) mongrel dogs of both sexes and of body weight ranged from 8 to 25 kg. The clinically healthy dogs were used in our experiments.
The dogs used in this study were classified into 3 main groups. The first group, in which we differentiated the midline and bilateral subcostal incisions. The second group, subjected to partial resection of the left. The general health condition and the liver functions were estimated by haematological and histopathological studies before and after operations. The third group, in which we attempted to apply the auxiliary partial heterotopic liver transplantation (APHLT) . The animals of this group were two types. Donors, from which we took the graft, and the recipients, to which we implanted the graft.
Donors were subdivided into two subgroups
Subgroup (D-a) from which the left lobe was resected and the dogs were left to survive (as in second main group)
Subgroup CD-b) from which liver explantation was performed and
