Abstract Toxoplasma gondii is a world wide disease. It may cause serious pathology specially in immunocompromised patients. The infection is mainly intracellular. Vital exchanges involve trace elements zinc and magnesium and their cooperation in metabolic activity during infections including protozoal ones. Zinc is an essential element specially for immune response against infections. Zinc shows moderate decrease in chronic toxoplasmosis but it is statically non significant. Magnesium shows significant decrease in patients with chronic toxoplasmosis so those patients are vulnerable to develop manifestations of hypomagnesaemia. |
