1350 Sera Samples were collected from sloughtered and alive sheep from Cairo, Giza, Qaluobia, El—Sharkia, El-Beheria, Fayoum, Minia, Matrouh and Aswan as 150 samples was a fixed number of each province and all avalable data was recorded.
This sera were subjected to various serological tests:
Complement fixation, Agar gel precipitation and serum neutralization tests to reveal the immune status of the animals and the effeciency of RVF vaccine programne.
Results of serum neutralization test reveal that the lowest positive rate was for samples from Minia governorate (18.6 %) and the highest from Matrouh (58 %), the neutralizing indices was between 0.5 and 3.5 with at leart 50% of the sera samples giving an index of 1.7 or more (the lowest protective index).
As for complement fixation test the highest rate
(41.3 %) was represented in Matrouh while the lowest rate
(14 %) was in Aswan and the range of titer was between 8
and 32 with some few samples in Matrouh reaching 64.
Results of Agar gel precipitation test revealed that the highest rate (56.6%) and the lowest rate (17.3%) for Matrouh and Minia respectively.
