Abstract In the present study , sixty adult male mice were used to investigate whether the intake of high concentrations of zinc has an effect on the testicular structure and on sperm count and motility in mice. Then the testes from each animal were removed, the weight of the testes was measured. The testes were processed for the histological study. The two cauda epididymis from each mouse were placed in normal saline solution and small curs were made in the two cauda epididymis where the spermatozoa were obtained and suspended in the saline solution the suspension was diluted. It could be concluded that , although zinc is an essential element for normal sexual function, a negative correlation between excessive zinc intake and sperm count as well as sperm motility was found. |
