Abstract

The experimental work aimed at evaluation of the acute and chronic toxic effects of acetaminophen on the liver and kidney and the study of the chronic effects of analgesic mixture containing acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine on these organs together with evaluation of the protective effect of misoprostol on toxicity of these drugs. The results of this experimental work reported that there was improvement in the biochemical and histopathological changes of the liver which was decreased significantly in acute toxicity when the prostaglandin E, analogue misoprostol was administered before and within 10 hours of administration of acetaminophen and also administration of misoprostol after 20 and 30 hours of acetaminophenadministration significantly decreased the biochemical and pathological changes of the liver.
