Abstract In the first experiment, two group of 60 bird, Matroh and L.S.L. and fed commercial laying ration for 14 weeks to study their perfermance of egg production and shell quality. (1) Egg number and egg production rate was found to be highly significant between the two breeds , where the average Matroh production was 59.65% while in L.S.L. was 26.22 % . . ~2) There was no si~nificant difference between the average egg weight in the two breeds ranged from 40 - 42 gm. (3) The egg shell weight and shell thi~kness was found higher in Matroh breed than in L.S.L and this significant difference may be species characteristics and not due to the ration fed. Shell calcium percent in each breed ranged between 35 - 31 % and this result indicate that the amount of calcium secreted in the egg shell nearly constant and not affected by breed. |
