Abstract

Maize” or corn (Zea Mays L.) plays an important role in agriculture
as the world’s third leading crop, after wheat and rice. Egypt produces from 5.5 to 6 million ton which covers 75Vo of our need. To overcome this Gap. Evaluation and selection of inbred lines of maize through breeding ’schemes are the only way for reaching this purpose through utilizing hybrid vigour. Yield is a resultant of different characters i.e., morphological, ph1’siocehmicai, ear as well as yield and yield components. It is of great importance to deal with the inheritance of these characters to help the Breeder to plan the optimum breeding programme to increase maize yield. The recent research workers gave a great effort to improve pollen Fertility. Sterility as well as leaf area components and chlorophyll ”a” and ’b”” these components play great role in final yield of grain. Therefore, These components were investigated to obtain various genetic information For helping breeder. Diallel mating s]’stem is one of the most powerful breeding methods to evaluate and indentify parents. Therefore, ten genetically diverse inbred lines of maize were chosen randomly and mated in diallel fashion to obtain complete diallei. The obtained materials (100 genotypes) were evaluated Under different locations i.e, Sakha and Sids. The main targets of this research work and to.. I- Study combining ability effects for different genotypes under study. 2- Investigate the inheritance of the different characters to estimate type of gene action and select the most powerful breeding method to Improve different characters under study. 3- Estimate the average degree of dominance, heritability in broad and Narrow’ sense as well as gene distribution among the studied inbred lines.
