Abstract Aim of the work This study treats cases of subtrochanteric fractures using dynamic Condylar Screw (DCS). We are going to study the results of using this device in treating subtrochanteric fractures to find out if it is idial for treating all types of this fracture or not; is it implant of choice for certain types of subtrochanteric fractures or not; precautions in using this device; indications and contra-indications for using this device. Conclusion DCS is recommended for simple rather than highly comminuted subtrochanteric fractures. DCS is to be used in patients with good phone quality. DCS is expected to give satisfactory results in younger patients. Posteromedial cortex is to be restored in all cases treated by DCS; otherwise absolute non weight bearing for at least 12 weeks or till clinical & radiological union is achieved. We have to consider other methods of fixation such as reconstruction and gamma nails in treatment of this fracture and choosing the suitable implant for each case individually. |
