Abstract
The management of hyperbilirubinemia represents a complicated problem to the clinician the purpose of the treatment is to prevent neurotoxic effects of bilirubin and to identify and treat illnesses that can be associated with excess bilirubin production impaired conjugation or inadequate elimination of the pigment modes of treatment include interfering with bilirubin production hancing the transport binding or conjugation of bilirubin and removing bilirubin in urine faeces and blood controversies remain regarding which treatment or combination of therapies is safest and most effective .
