Abstract Aim of the work To compare the continuous versus daily interrupted infusions of propofol and midazolam patients, undergoing mechanical ventilation to clarify the merits and demerits of each regimen. Summary Measurements were made for hemodynamic state (HR, SBP, and DBP) wake up time, triglycerides level, and assessment the severity of illness and prognosis of the patients by different scoring systems. The level of sedation was assessed by means of simplified Ramsay scoring system; patients were kept sedated between levels (3/4) in both groups. Ventilation, length of stay in ICU, dose of midazolam and propofol used and short wake up times. It is also improved the ability of clinicians to perform daily neurological examinations and reduced the need for diagnostic tests to evaluate unexplained alteration in mental status. |
