Abstract The rapidly growing population towards the north- western coast areu o± Egypt has been a consequence of the crowdness created around the Ni]4valley and the delta region. The realization that this area would also be suitable for indutrilization as well as for tourism, has promoted the establishment of many interprizes for the benifit and welfare of the existing communities. Inspite of the fact that, the Egyptian authQrity has been currently constructing pipelines for drinking water supply along the morthwestern coast, yet the everincreasing demand for municipa1-’ater sources have still been a great problem in this area. br this reason, undrground-water would be an indispensable source, in order to be able to cope with the future demand. Since, no releable chemical data have been available concerning the constituents as well as the pollutants of such underground-water sources; we got interested in the chemical investigation of some samples collected at cer— tam allocations along the northwestern coast, begining at El-Agamy area, and extending as for as 30 km away from the city of Mersa Matruh. |
