Abstract is thesis presents a mathematical analysis study for cous flow in doubly - connected domains according to the basic concepts and fundamental equations of the theory of lubrication. Determination of the main characteristics of orresponding types of externally ressurized thrust gas (air) bearings was carried out by introducing the assumption that the fluid flow through the bearing domain lS a two-dimensional flow under Stokes conditions. The present study essentially depends on the methods of complex variables, potential theory. conformal mapping and elliptic functions. Utilizing conformal mapPlng .o.ving elliptic functions. the corresponding mapping and functions for both cases under investigation are constructed that map the interiors of the selected shapes into the interior of an annulus whose outer boundary is the unit circle. Then the pressure distribution and total thrust have been determined for two configurations, namely : the rectangular bearing and the elliptic bearing respectively. The results of some special cases of this ’study are compared with the results of the preceding investigations, conformity is found excellent. |
