Abstract

The problem considered in this thesis presents an adiabatic solution of misaligned heavily loaded journal Dearing. The elastic deformation of the bearing liner is -taken into consideration, and a simplified elastic model of bearing liner deformation is given.
An adiabatic solution of the energy equation is presented to evaluate the temperature distribution in the fluid film. The viscosity of the lubricant is assumed to be pressure and temperature dependent. A temperature pressure power relation is used.
the results present the performance of misaligned bearing for different misalignment severity S,,, and directional angle 0. The variations of the dimensionless load carrying capacity of the bearing, the friction factor and the maximum pressure and temperature with eccentricity ratio c are presented, for both cases of elastic and rigid liners.
