Abstract Aim of the work The aim of this work is to verify the value of power spectral analysis in the context of ischemic heart disease patients in particular during early phase of acute myocardial infarction. Conclusions 1- HRV is reduced in patients with IHD. 2- Predischarge HRV values are more significantly reduced and better used for risk stratification after MI than early HRV values. 3- There is some recover in HRV in patients with old MI but did not reach normal values. 4- Patients with acute anterior had lower HRV than patients with acute inferior MI but in patients with old MI this difference was lost except for SDNN. 5- VLPs are relatively stable in patients with MI but transiently present in patients with unstable angina. Recommendations 24-hr analysis of HRV & SAECG could be valuable in patients with acute MI as a simple non invasive method for risk stratification. Combination of HRV & SAECG parameters appears to appropriate for selecting patients for EP testing & invasive strategies after AMI. |
