Abstract This study was conducted on 19 olive cultivars grown in the gene bank filed of Desert research Center, El-Sheikh Zuwayid City, North Sinai Govemorate during two growing seasons (1999 and 2000). These cultivars are namely Aswad Lybia, Itrana, Coratina, Techemuola, Bella di Spagna, Tanch, Manzanillo, Chiperssino, Karidalya, Nabali Saadeh, Jolit, Conservollia, Nabali Mohassan, Picholine, Jabaa, Douaibly, Mawi Abou Shoka, Sorany and Kaissy. Different parameters were studied to evaluate the olive field collection such as vegetative characteristics, flowering habit, blooming in relation to chilling hours, fruit physical and chemical characteristics and productivity. from the final evaluation it can be concluded that Tanch followed by Conservollia, Itrana, Chiperssino and Coratina cvs. are the most promising olive cultivars under North Sinai conditions. |
