Abstract In this thesis we were concerned about how to improve the mobile radio equipment design. We have proposed a new ion / demodulation technique that give efficient performance at low signal/noise ratios in mobile radio fading proposed communication technique used digital method. because digital transmission offers over analog transmission. The phase-shift (PSK) modulation technique was preferable because of its desirable characteristics. We have used the Trellis-Coded (TCM) techniques. because it permits satisfactory ion at lower signal-to-noise ratio. Differential ion technique with multiple differential detectors has been used to detect the received signal in the fading channel. A viterbi decoder was used to choose the code sequence which minimum distance from the received sequence. In this thesis we have studied the performance of five different M-DPSK TCM schemes. The first is 2-state 4-DPSK TCM • the second is 4-state 4-DPSK TCM scheme. The third he fourth are 4-state 8-DPSK TCM schemes with and t parallel paths and the fifth is 4-state 8-DPSK TCM Without parallel paths and whose code has maximum t of the squared branch distances along the shortest event path. The performance of each scheme of the five |
