Abstract Siphon spillways are used as reservoir emergency structures, protection structures against sudden surges in canals and forebays, and out fall structures for canals tail reaches. It is very important to let the siphon operates with full capacity in short time, in order to overcome- any catastrophic damages resulting from the rise in the upstream water elevation. In the present work experimental studies are con¬ducted to investigate the relation between the time of priming and the shape, dimensions, and the postions of the nappe deflection, Fig. (5-2). The results of these studies are presented graphi¬cally in the form of curves to show the effect of the changes in considered variables on the time of priming. Future research work has been sugested to complete the study of this work. |
