Abstract
Computer application continue to expand at an ever increasing rate.The largest area of growth in computer applications is informed storase and retrievel including batch,transaction processing and timesharings.In the years ahead then data base systems will become increasingly widespread and increasingly important.
The role of the data base system is to relieve the user from all details not pertainins to his problem.specifically the user has not to deal with the physical layout of his data.This becomes a cumbersome task when the information system is quite complicated.This thesis studies the design of data base systems.It presents the features concepts and capabilities of a general data base system.This presentation follows the ansi/sparc terminology,and is suided by its proposal for the architecture of data base systems.A detailed analysis of a data base system leads is carried out.This analysis suggests typical solutions to problems facing the data base system designer.It helps showing the cost of implementing various features both in programming effort and in execution time.
