Abstract

The present study was designated to examine the effect of feeding different levels of fresh and cooked broccoli on serum total lipids ,triglycerides , total cholesterol , HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol , liver and
kidney functions in rats fed hyperlipidemic diets.
Forty eight adult male albino rats(Spragu Dawley Strain)
weighting(165-167)gm/rat.The rats were divided into 8 groups cach 6
rats.The experiment was carried out in two period one in three weeks and the
second in 6 weeks.
In the first period, the normal(control group) was fed basal diet, while
the other seven groups were fed the hyperlipidemic diet in the second period,
one group(untreated group) of the hyperlipidemic rats was fed on
hyperlipidemic(10% animal fat+1% cholesterol).While the other six groups
were on hyperlipidemic diet supplemented with six levels(5 , 10 and 15%
fresh broccoli, 5, 10and 15% steamed cooked broccoli.
