Abstract One of the major activities in acquirins a new computer system is the evaluation of the performance of the product.Also,it is frequently required to evaluate existins computer systems for tunins purposes to acheive a maximum permissible performance level.he objectives of this thesis are:studying the characterization of workloads taking.Alexandria university computer center as an example.Presenting the results of tunins and upgrading the system to indicate the effect of different alternatives upon the performance of the system and the quality of the service.The thesis can be divided into two parts.In the first part,the methods and techniques employed are reviewed.Also two examples of previous work are introduced.In second part a case study of alexandria university computer center is taken,the simulation model used is introduced and the results obtained is presented.Chapter one is a general background to computer performance evaluation.It explores the basic techniques for evaluating performance of computer systems. |
