Abstract In this study an applicable scheme for a coordinated digital control of system wide stability augmentation thro¬ugh local augmentation action . The problem investigated in this. thesis represents a large important area of power sy¬stem operations . It is a very difficult problem because in contrast to economic dispatch and load frequency control,, it is both drastically nonlinear and dynamic on a short ti¬me scale. A complete control scheme is proposed and condit¬ions of its stabilizing action are established in this work. The scheme is realizable and can utilize any of the existing stability augmentation devices, that is, resistors, fast valuing and load shedding . The results reported here make it poss¬ible to use system wide, but under local control in a coo¬rdinated manner. A model known as machine angle model is obtained and used . It has been chosen for its relative simplicity , although the model contains very minor approximation . The necessary theritical background for the control scheme with theorems and remarks are given. Properties of the used st¬ability augmentation tools are reported in some details. Main program and several subprograms are prepared. for digital simulation of the control scheme . These programs in addition to a previously perpared load flow program are used for appling this control scheme on Alexandria electric network after giving a detailed dese.-ription, of the network . The simulation is performed on the PDP-11/70 computer in |
