Abstract
The main objectives of this study were to obtain the following information:
a. The influemce of line x tester analysis on the studied characters.
b. Nature of testers.
c. Estimates values for additive and dominance.
A total of 60 S² lines derived from three different sources (sets) of white group (Giza-2,Composite 5 and Composite 108).Also,a total of 60 S² lines derived from three different sources (sets) of yellow group(P.I. 213696, Puerto Rico 8D # 317 and Antigua 4 D # 317). These S² lines were obtained from Maize Research Section.The S² lines of white group were topcrossed to each of two testers. The testers were Sd-7 as an inbred tester (representing a narrow genetic base) and Giza-2 ( representing a broad genetic base). Also, the other 60 S² lines of yellow group were topcrossed to each of two testers. These testers were Gm-1004 as an inbred tester(representing narrow genetic base) and Gemmeiza Yellow Population(GYP), representing a broad genetic base.
