Abstract

Methods of fire fighting consider the most important methods to be developed to overcome the hazards of losses in personals and structures in which the firing happened.
In this study we identified the requirements and fundamentals for fire fighting and clarification for reasons which result in fires and the facilities of applying the suitable method to minimize the hazards of firing in the oil crude tanks.
This study identifies the importance of fire fighting in general in the public locations, different commercial places and the industrial zones.etc. It also discusses the analysis of each method and clarifies the advantages and disadvantages for each one.
This study also contains the types of fire detectors, Automatic suppression systems and the advantages & disadvantages of each. It also illustrates the cooling systems by using water mist devices in the petroleum oil tanks and the types of it. We also study the different types of petroleum tanks which may be horizontal, vertical or balls for natural gas store .etc.
This study contains case study of fire fighting calculations for 120000 m3 oil tank that calculates the amount of cooling water and the amount of foam required to overcome the firing. Also containing the distribution and orientations for the foam risers and cooling water sprinklers.
