Abstract for many years the sugar-cane purple lined borer, Chilo agamemnon Blesz, has been one of the most serious pests of the sugar-cane fields in Middle and Upper Egypt. Female moths usually oviposit their egg-masses on the lower surfaces of the sugar-cane plant leaves. short time after the hatched larvae make their way to the heart of the plant in which they feed, develop and cause a great damage to the sugar stalks which later on resulted in considerable loss in sugar production. The present investigation was carried out in an attempt to added some information on the ecology of this pest and the role of its egg-parasite, Trichogramma evanescens westwood as a biocontrol agent in selected sugar-cane agroecosystems in Minia Governorate However. |
